常用用法
- stay的基本意思是“保持同样状态或者停留在同一地方”,可指人或使人等停留、居住、留宿、暂住某处或某段时间,也可指人、天气等保持某种状态。
- stay作“停留,停止”解时,可用作不及物动词,也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时接名词或代词作宾语。
- stay作“继续处于某种状态”解时,可用作系动词,接名词、形容词或过去分词作表语。
- stay可用在祈使句中,通常表示“站住”“停止”。
- stay的现在进行时可表示按计划、安排或打算等将要发生的动作,这时句中常有表示将来时间的状语或时空的上下文。
- 在口语中常用stay and to/- v 代替stay to- v 。

- 这两个词都有“留下,逗留”之意,其区别是：
- stay通常指在某地呆一段时间而不离开,或暂时留〔住〕在某地,尤指以宾客身份逗留; 而remain则指别人已经走了,而某人仍在原地。例如:
