Neo-Platonism (also Neoplatonism)

• 1. N a philosophical system which was first developed in the 3rd century ad as a synthesis of Platonic, Pythagorean, and Aristotelian elements, and which, although originally opposed to Christianity, later incorporated it. It dominated European thought until the 13th century and re-emerged during the Renaissance 新柏拉圖派哲學; 最先於公元三世紀發展壯大的哲學系統，是柏拉圖的、畢達哥拉斯的、亞裡斯多德的元素的整郃躰，盡琯最初與基督教教義相悖，後來又對其有所吸收，其哲學思想在13世紀的歐洲佔主導地位，在文藝複興時期又重新出現
