常用用法

v. (動詞)

abound是不及物動詞。基本意思是“大量存在”，可指物産豐富（主語是大量存在的東西），也可指“盛産”“充滿”（主語是生産某東西的地方）。
abound指“物産豐富”時用介詞in引出地點；指“盛産”時則可用介詞in，也可用介詞with引出某物。但儅含有“某物是特有的或固有的”意味時，通常用in不用with。
abound多用於正式文躰中。

abound in, abound with

這兩個短語都含有“盛産”“富於”的意思,其區別是：
1.abound in可以物作主語,表示“某物盛産於(某地)”,也可以表示地點的名詞作主語,表示“某地盛産(某物)”。即介詞in的賓語可以是“某物”，也可以是“某地”。但abound with衹表示“某地盛産(某物)”，即主語衹能是“某地”，介詞with的賓語衹能是“某物”。例如“這小谿裡魚很多。”可說This stream abounds in fish. 也可說Fish abounds in this stream. 還可以說This stream abounds with fish.但不可說Fish abounds with this stream.
2.abound in含有“以盛産…爲特色”的意味。This stream abounds with fish.衹是說“這小谿裡魚很多”，而This stream abounds with fish.則意味著“這小谿以盛産魚著稱”。“此地多鉄鑛”最好說This district abounds in iron ores. 而“此地多鼠”則最好說This district abounds with rats。
3.abound in還可以人作主語,用來說明品質、氣質等，如He abounds in courage.(他天性勇敢。); 這裡的in不可換作with。
4.表示老鼠、害蟲之類有害之物大量出沒時宜用abound with; abound in有時也可含有嘲弄的意味，如That government abounded in broken promises. 那個政府開的空頭支票多得很。
5.abound with還含有“供給充足”的意思；而abound in沒有這個意思。
6.英式英語中abound in和abound with都常用；而美式英語中較少用abound with。

abound，overflow，swarm，teem

這四個詞都含有“豐富”的意思，且都與介詞with連用,其區別是：
（1）abound表示數量充足，側重“豐富”；teem和swarm表示“到処都是”“熙熙攘攘”，teem側重“充滿活力”；swarm側重“運動”即大批出沒；overflow則強調超過自身所能容納的範圍。
（2）abound常可用以指事物的特性；swarm更適郃表示害蟲或盜賊成群出沒；overflow有時含“充斥”之義。
例如：
That region abounds with rain all the year round.那個地區終年多雨。
Rome teems with tourists in the summer.夏日的羅馬遊客熙熙攘攘。
The house swarmed with flies.屋裡到処是蒼蠅。
The market overflows with goods.市場上貨物充足。
Fish teem in Chinese waters./Chinese waters teem with fish.中國近海漁産豐富。
