這組詞都有“地毯”的意思。其區別在於:
1.用來鋪地板或樓梯的叫carpet,指厚實的棉、毛地毯。例如:
She hesitated for a minute and stood while a tear or two splashed on the worn red carpet.她躊躇了一會,靜靜地站在那裡,一兩滴淚水濺落在腳下破舊的紅地毯上。

2.用來鋪室內地麪的叫rug,指小地毯、毛皮地毯。例如:
