常用用法

conj. (連詞)

whether用作連詞,意思是“是否,是不是”,可引導名詞從句或動詞不定式短語。
whether還可引導讓步狀語從句,意思是“不琯,無論”,從句中通常用一般現代時代替將來時。

词语辨析

whether, if

這兩個詞的共同意思是“假使,如果”。
1.if從句可以表示希望; 而whether從句單純表示事實。
2.if不能用在介詞之後的間接疑問句中; 而whether可以。
3.if不能用在“to+動詞原形”的前麪; 而whether可以。
4.if不能引導主語、表語從句; 而whether可以。
