fever的基本意思是“發燒”“熱度”,是不可數名詞,沒有複數形式,但常可加不定冠詞。
fever的另一個意思是“一時的狂熱”,是不可數名詞,多與介詞of連用。

have fever, have a fever

表示一般“發燒”,用have fever和have a fever都可以,但在加上表示種類、程度的定語時,通常要加不定冠詞a; 而在其前有表示病名的形容詞時,通常不加a。試比較:
She died of a high fever.
她死於高熱。
She died of hemorrhagic fever.
她死於出血熱。

fever, heat

這兩個詞的共同意思是“熱”“熱度”。其區別在於:
1.heat指自然現象的溫度或熱氣; 而fever則指因病而躰溫陞高的熱,即病熱。
2.用於比喻, fever有“沸騰”“狂熱”的意思; 而heat有“熱身賽”“辣”“激烈”的意思。例如:
